Italian Company Develops Positive Vaccine Results
Italian researchers are claiming to have developed a vaccine that is able to neutralize severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in animal cells.
The company Takis Biotech conducted tests at the Lazzaro Spallanzani Hospital in Rome and say the initial results in mice were very positive. After only one dose, the vaccines were able to produce a strong antibody response against the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein.’
“According to Spallanzani Hospital, as far as we know, we are the first in the world so far to have demonstrated neutralization of the coronavirus by a vaccine. We expect this to happen in humans too,” Luigi Aurisicchio, CEO of Takis Biotech, had to say on the subject.
The company now say they are exploring the option of working together with the US drug company LineaRx to further develop the vaccine. However, the company requires the Italian government’s support and alliances with international bodies to further develop the vaccine,
